Morris Center YMCA - Serving Morristown, Morris Township, Ceder Knolls, Morris Plains, Whippany, Convent Station, East Hanover, Mendham, Chester and parts of Harding Township
Aquatics

The Morris Center YMCA Aquatics Department teaches over 500 kids to swim each session. We offer fall, winter, spring and summer sessions, each running from 4 weeks to 12 weeks depending on the session. Our YMCA has classes for babies, preschoolers, youth, adults and seniors. Whether the individual wants to improve their stroke or take one of our popular water exercise classes we have what you are looking for. Should you or your child be looking for extra care, we offer private swim lessons.

Children and adults taking swim lessons must be members of the Morris Center YMCA*

In addition to Annual memberships, we offer 3 month Family or Adult memberships and 6 month or annual Youth memberships.

Adult members are entitled to use our entire facility and participate in our fitness classes.

Youths may use the facility during open gym, open pool time

and are able to participate in fee based programs (Youth Basketball, Martial Arts) in addition to swim lessons. Older children are able to use the Circuit room.

*Adults in 'parent in the water' classes (Skips) do not need a membership -just the child.

Pool Renovations

We are improving the pool area!

Beginning August 17th (tentative), the pool deck and whirlpool will be re-tiled and the entire pool will be re-surfaced. It is going to be beautiful.

The details:

Work will take 3 - 4 weeks and require total closure of the pool. We have planned it so that the work will coincide with our shut-down week. We have also graciously received permission from area Y's to use their pool (only) during our renovations. See the schedule for locations.

Please remember that you must present your Morris Center YMCA membership card to use other YMCA's pools.

  • Warm water increases blood circulation and promotes healing of injured tissues.
  • Warm water relaxes tight muscles and increases joint motion.

Lap Swim
This is for members with the intent to swim continuous laps. Aqua jogging is permitted in slow lap lane only, based on availability. Lifeguards will ask swimmers to move to appropriate lanes if necessarily. Children under 16 years of age that are strictly doing laps may be able to use the Youth lap lane. See pool schedule for times and days located at the front desk.

Open Swim
Pool is open for all to enjoy. Children under 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age in the water at all times. This lifeguard-supervised time is for families to use the pool for swimming and free time. Floaties, Swimmies, balls and rafts are prohibited during this time.

Open-Youth Swim
(For children 12 and over) To swim in the deep water during open swim children must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 meters), on front or back, turn from front to back and float or tread water for 30 seconds. Lifeguards may ask children to move to shallow water for their safety.
