Specialty Camps

We have many specialized camps for your camper to choose from. Every instructor brings experience to their chosen camp. Each week a camper can choose to be creative or active. Enrich your child’s imagination by taking dance, science, or photography. For the active child, physical sport camps such as running, tennis, fishing, are just a few that are offered.

Specialty Camps run from 9:00 am-12:00 Noon.

Early drop-off is available beginning at 7:30 am for an additional $35 a week.

Extended day is also available from 12 Noon-6:00 pm for an additional  $120 a week.

Specialty Camp Descriptions:

Creative Camps:
Photography (Gr.3-6) 
Campers will work with cameras; shooting, processing, and printing pictures, as well as visiting a shop to see how film is developed. Hiking is incorporated in order to experience the beauty of our many parks and wildlife refuge. They will create a photo album from their week long experience. (Loantaka Park, Jockey Hollow, Great Swamp, and a local camera shop)

Dance Camps:
Get up and Dance (Gr.K-4)
 Get a great summer camp experience and a top notch routine all in one! Spirit Unlimited choreographers will teach new and creative material in a summer camp atmosphere.

Science Camps:
Little Scientists (K-1)

Campers will learn to utilize everyday materials while participating in interesting experiments. Making slime, crystals, and play-doh are just a few of the fun ideas to be carried out.

Rolly Polly Robot Workshop (ages 6 - 11)
Your Rolly Polly Robot will tumble, fumble, stumble but will find a way to right itself up. The moment you turn it on, Rolly Polly will speed away on it's two amazing cyclonic wheels. You will build it and take it home, and learn how it works. You can add your original work of art, drawings or picture of your favorite person, pet or whomever and put it inside the dome. Design robots for tug-of-war, sumo wrestling, tractor pull and other fun things!

Make it and take it home! (ages 6-11) 
Science projects you take home that teach and are fun! In this hands-on, fun and exciting program, you will discover how amazing science is. You will make and take home a wide assortment of toys designed to teach you science concepts in a hands-on-way. Build a working electric motor, make your own Sharpie pen T-shirts and learn some cool chemistry (you supply your own 100% cotton shirt). Make silly putty-glowing goo - green flubber and other cool projects. By the way, we will make ice cream in our own amazing, different, Sciensational way!

Sport Camps:
Sports on the Go! (Gr K-2)

This is a new specialty camp for 2010. Everyday the campers will go to a new sports venue! They will enjoy varied activities like mini-golf, tennis, football etc. Kids will stay active while learning new techniques and having fun!

Kids on the Run (Gr. K-1)
 For the child who likes variety, this is the class! This camp is a combination of sports and arts and crafts. Campers will play different sports throughout the week and bring an art project home with them each day. (Blake Center)

Basketball (Gr. 2-4) 
Each camper will learn the fundamentals; ball handling, lay-ups, foul shots and defensive positioning. All skills will be taught with drills, scrimmages and actual games (on-site)

Fishing (Gr. 2-4) 
Campers are given hands-on-instruction on how to bait, cast and unhook fish. These basic skills are taught in a safe environment such as Sunrise Lake and Loantaka Pond. (off-site)

Soccer (Gr. 2-4)
 The first three sessions begin with a focus on the fundamental ball skills. The last two sessions start with more advanced skills. Each day ends with a game where players are taught to use their skills in a group. (Mennen Field)

Tennis (Gr. 2-4) 
Campers will learn the basic fundamentals of tennis while playing against fellow campers of same ability. Serving, volleying, net play and scoring will be emphasized. (off-site)

Y World of Sports (Gr. 2-4)
Children will play a variety of sports and learn the importance of teamwork. Different sports that will be played are soccer, basketball, baseball and more. (on-site)
