New members at the Y are treated to a unique opportunity.

your appointment for a free equipment orientation with
a member of the YMCA fitness staff. Learn more about the
facility and where fitness can take you.
This session is free with a new membership and is a great
opportunity to get a jump-start on working one-on-one with a Certified Personal
Trainer. One-hour sessions are available any time the Y is open and are priced as shown below.
The Morris Center YMCA offers a Body Composition Analysis
by a Certified Personal Trainer. This service
helps members who wish to stay abreast of their fitness
level. It can also serve as a lead-in to ndividualized personal training.
Every Body Composition Analysis will include:
- Completion of the YMCA health history sheet including muscular
and joint screening
- Height and Weight Measurements
- Resting Heart Rate
- Sit-and-Reach Flexibility test
Fitness evaluations can also include the following
services if the trainer and member agree they are desired:
- Body Fat Percentage Analysis
- Body Mass Index Analysis
- Blood Pressure Reading
- Working Heart Rate Test (3-minute step test)
- Bench Press (or chest press)
- Strength Test
- Girth Measurements

Personal training is available for adults. Sessions are available
for 1 hour and ½ hour increments. All YMCA Personal Trainers
are nationally certified, trained in emergency first response
and follow YMCA policies and procedures. The Fitness Management staff is constantly providing
new resources to the training staff to make your workouts more effective.

Guaranteed to help lower your handicap, Golf Conditioning will help you make the transition from the couch to the course. Golf enthusiasts will gather in the fitness center to work on their strength, flexibility and stamina necessary to maximize your driver’s potential and develop finesse around the greens. dynamic stretching and cardiovascular exercise while working up to swinging the club again… or for the first time. For adults.

ancient physical practice of Yoga- in a chair! If you spend time
sitting in a car or at a desk or while watching tv, this class is

A form of Tai Chi, this moving combination of both
Yoga and meditation consists of a series of postures that are derived
from a martial arts discipline but designed to mimic nature. Chi
Gong aims to foster a calm and tranquil mind and helps improve
balance, alignment, fine scale motor control, and rhythm of movement.
Individuals
will learn how to reduce stress on joints and improve flexibility
and range of motion. It is also popular among individuals with
back pain, shoulder tension and musculoskeletal problems. Feldenkrais
lessons are safe, gentle and meditative.

A class designed
for those with musculoskeleton/joint problems who wish to
increase their flexibility, balance, and strength. Taught by Jean
George,
ACSM certified a specialist in muscular movements. This class
will involve weight training, stretching and pilates type of
movements to increase flexibility, balance and strength.
This fun-packed
class incorporates both the stimulating moves of a boxer in the
ring as well as the cardiovascular challenges of a high intensity
workout.
A terrific way to get in shape!
An aerobics class using
basic dance choreography. This class will also incoporate strength
training and stretching.

overall strength, using a resistance ball. Upper and lower
body exercises will be included.

to mini trampolines but with lower jumping distances, this is a

position to position and help you develop the necessary discipline
