Cedar Knolls --- On Sunday, November 23rd, the Morris Center YMCA is pleased to host our 2nd Annual Pentathlon. Over 200 swimmers from area YMCA’s are expected to participate. Swimmers have a choice of swimming short distance or long distance. This event is different from a Dual Meet because a Pentathlon gives the swimmers an opportunity to try new events and to qualify for Championships such as; States, Silver States, Junior Olympics or Eastfields which are held at the end of the swim season.
What is a Pentathlon? Swimmers must be able to swim all 5 strokes; IM (Individual Medley), Freestyle, Backstroke, Breast and Butterfly in a relative quick speed. This event truly tests the swimmers endurance and gives an opportunity for real competition.
The money raised from this event benefits the Morris Center YMCA Swim Team by providing the funds needed for Educational and Training programs for swimmers and coaching staff, Swim Scholarships, Competition Equipment, (such as a long awaited Electronic Scoreboard).
Spectators are welcome, admission is $3.00 and children under 12 are free.
Vendors such as California Beach Hut will be available as well as a snack bar.
The fun begins at 8:00 am in the morning and will run until 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 23rd.
Come out and cheer on the swimmers!
