Life guarding Challenge Course
Renew your expiring Life guarding certification in one day!
*Participants must provide proof of a current or recently expired (within 1 year) American Red Cross Life guarding certification on the first day of class.
The Life guarding Challenge course is a skills evaluation and written exam ONLY. There will be NO REVIEW of information included in this course.
A check payment for the full amount is due at the time of registration.
Registration deadline is 5:00 pm the Thursday before the class begins.

Full Lifeguard Class
Ages 15 and up. Must be 15 by the conclusion of class.
Class size is limited to 10. This is a Red Cross Certification course. On completion of the course, individuals will receive four certifications:
- Lifeguard Training (good for 3 years)
- First Aid (good for 3 years)
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer (good for 1 year)
- AED Certification (good for 1 year)
This is a serious class for those wishing to be life guards. Those passing the course will be certified.
Due to the seriousness of this class, students must attend all classes and arrive on time. There is no refund for missing classes and there are no make-ups.
- Participants must be 15 years old by the last day of class.
- Participants must be able to pass a swimming skills pre-test.
- We require a $100.00 deposit due at the time of registration.
- Full payment is due by the end of the first night.
Member fee: $325.
Non-member fee: $375.
All classes are mandatory. No make-ups, no absences.

All Lifeguard candidates must pass the pretest to take part in the Life guarding course.
Pre-requisites
You must be able to swim 300 meters (12 laps) continuously using these strokes in the following order:
- 100 meters freestyle with rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick
- 100 meters breaststroke using a pull, breathe, glide sequence
- 100 meters any combination of either freestyle or breaststroke
- Starting in the water, swim 20 meters using freestyle or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 ft, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, kick 20 meters back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Certification Requirements
- Attend ALL class sessions. Missed classes will result in a failure of the course and the participant will not receive a refund.
- Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities.
- Demonstrate competency in the three final skill scenarios.
- Correctly answer at least 80 percent of the questions in the three sections of the final written exam.
