Lifeguard Course
Ages 15 and up. Must be 15 by the conclusion of class.
Class size is limited to 10. This is a Red Cross Certification course. On completion of the course, individuals will receive four certifications:
- Lifeguard Training (good for 3 years)
- First Aid (good for 3 years)
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer (good for 1 year)
- AED Certification (good for 1 year)
This is a serious class for those wishing to be life guards. Those passing the course will be certified.
Due to the seriousness of this class, students must attend all classes and arrive on time. There is no refund for missing classes and there are no make-ups.
- Participants must be 15 years old by the last day of class.
- Participants must be able to pass a swimming skills pre-test.
- We require a $100.00 deposit due at the time of registration.
- Full payment is due by the end of the first night.
Member fee: $300.
Non-member fee: $340
What to bring to class:
- Bathing Suit
- Towel
- Extra clothes
- Lunch and snack
- Pen/pencil
- Notebook
- ID/proof of age on first day

All Lifeguard candidates must pass pretest to take part in the Life guarding course.
Phase 1:
300 meters swim (12 laps)
- 100 meters freestyle with rotary breathing
- 100 meters breaststroke
- 100 meters any combination of either freestyle or breaststroke
Phase 2:
20 meters freestyle swim
- Surface dive 7-10 feet
- Retrieve 10-pound brick and return to surface
- Swim 20 meters to starting point (On back while holding brick with both hands)
- Place brick on pool deck and exit pool
Swimmers must complete Phase 2 within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
